My 4th Professional Win

For those of you who like to follow my travels, this will be my new site! As you can see I used to use this blog to write about road races. The person who was helping with my previous website deactivated it without giving me warning. So, please bookmark this site!

I have been fortunate enough to play some Eggland's Best events this summer. More recently I won an event that was held June 18-20 at the LPGA International. It was not an unfamaliar win as I have won on the Hills Course before back in 2012.

I didn't do anything special the first two days, but played a bogey free round of 68 in the third round to grab the win. I chipped in on 10 that day to go -3 and said to myself "Ok I know how this goes...just keep doing what you're doing". I left quite a few putts out there that day too. I came to the dangerous 18th and was hoping for a stress free ball in the fairway and shot on the green. But...golf is never that easy right!??! The 18th hole on the Hills is a dogleg left. If you go too far right, you can go through the fairway and into pompano bushes. If you try and cut the corner and it's not downwind, you can get blocked out to the green. The approach shot is over a bunch of junk. So, it requires precise club selection. Unfortantely I steered it slightly right and thought for sure I had gone through the fairway into the pompano bushes. When I got up there, thankfully my ball had stopped just short of the bush and I would have a shot to the green. The shot wouldn't be easy to judge coming out of the rough with the ball below my feet. I told Paul it was a jumper. Hard to trust that when you are going over a ravine LOL. It jumped and I ended up just a few feet over the green. Now getting up and down was a must. I used by 56 degree wedge and it trickled to about 2 feet. I tapped in for my par and immediately told Paul "It's not enough is it?" He said the other player would have to birdie 18 to force a play off. If you play golf professionally, you know you have to always expect the other player to make birdie. So, I stayed loose in preparation for a playoff, but I would soon find out I had won by a shot.

Winning at any level in golf is a big deal. I think at times I've lost sight of that. I told myself to enjoy that feeling that day for as long as I could. Boy it felt good and the bank account thanked me too.

Just last week I played another event at Venetian Bay in New Smyrna Beach. I had a pretty good finish. I had a chance to win. I was -4 with three to play and the lead was at -6. I did not finish well and let it slip away. I had started the day 6 back. Paul says I need to get more comfortable not having to come from behind LOL. But it's kind of my thing! Always has been!      So, what's next? I have not gotten into any Symetra events and at this point it does not look like I will. I have until August 13th to sign up for Stage 1 of LPGA Qualifying School in California. The entry fee is $2500 and with lodging, gas, food, etc..the trip will cost about $5,000. So, I am asking for any help so I can continue to pursue my dream. I'm hoping my recent win will help my cause. Please email me at alexandracasigolf@gmail.com if you can help.
